12 questions to ask before travelling abroad for cell therapy

A checklist to assess a service's credibility before committing to cost and travel.

Suitability depends on the condition, cell type, plans permitted under Korean law, and an individual assessment. The EHL team reviews your health information and explains the available options before confirming a care plan.

Before deciding to travel for a cell-related service, get written answers to these points: what is the current evidence level for my disease; are there better-evidenced options; what cell type is this product and what is its source; where is it manufactured and under what standards; is release testing available for the lot intended for me; how are the cells delivered and what are the risks; who manages adverse effects after I return home; how and for how long is follow-up provided; what does the total cost cover; is the service legal in that country for my indication; does the consent document state whether this is research or treatment; and is there a trial registration number to verify. If a provider avoids any of these questions, that itself is important information.
