Stem-cell approach for Chronic Kidney Disease

EHL reports that urine-derived stem cells are collected non-invasively, originate from the kidney and secrete Klotho, which suppressed renal fibrosis in animal models. KDSTEM is in clinical research; participation and eligibility must be confirmed with EHL.

Korean regenerative-medicine law

Korea provides a regulated advanced regenerative-medicine treatment pathway

Korea's amended law, effective 21 February 2025, allows designated advanced regenerative-medicine institutions to submit treatment plans for committee review and charge for treatment delivered under a plan found suitable.

The law does not automatically authorise every stem-cell type for every disease. Access depends on the institution's status, cell type, condition, a suitable reviewed plan and individual patient assessment.
